CursiveWe are learning to do cursive this year. So each day we work on a letter from the alphabet.  We have started with the lower case and are working our way to learning the capital letters.  The kids are really doing a great job, and we will continue to do cursive throughout the school year.

1st Quarter Reading:
We are learning about the elements of fiction: characters, setting, problem, solution, conclusion, and author's message.  The kids have already read multiple stories from our basal series, and will continue to use the basal and chapter books to practice identifying these elements.  We will also be learning comprehension strategies like:  visualization and predictions  as we are reading.  The students will be storymapping .  We will be putting on plays for our k-2 students from stories we have read in class.

1st quarter Science:The students will be learning about plants, and using observation skills.  We are learning to journal like scientists.
