Exam date:
AP exam is scheduled for May 16th at 8:00
a.m. at the High School.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1.
What is AP?
AP means Advanced Placement. It is a College Board
program. The College Board defines the curriculum
and must approve the curriculum for any classes
offered in a school that are identified by the
school as AP classes.
2.
How is the class curriculum approved by the College
Board?
The principal or the AP teacher must submit the
syllabus for the course to the College Board.
3.
What if the curriculum is not approved by the
College Board?
The high school is not allowed to list the course as
an AP class nor to identify the course as an AP
class on the transcript.
4.
Can I take the class without taking the exam?
Yes. The class will prepare for the exam but the
class and the exam are separate.
5.
How is taking an AP class helpful to me?
Any AP class listed on a transcript is given special
consideration by colleges for college admission and
class placement in the college setting. Some
colleges may give preferential housing to students
who have successfully completed AP course work as
shown on the student transcript.
6. Why should I take
the AP exam? Many colleges grant college credit
based on the score earned on the exam.
7.
Can I earn college credit by taking the class but
not the exam?
No. The class is used to assess student programs
when entering college. The exam score is the only
way to earn college credit.
8.
Do
all colleges use the AP class and the AP exam in the
same way?
No. Students check with the individual colleges.
