    This year in our classroom students will be working out of our new Language Arts Curriculum called Journeys.The Big Idea for Unit 1 of our 3rd grade program is: People Make a Strong Community.  Each week the students will have an essential question to focus their learning on.  Here are the following questions for unit 1:
    1.  What are the parts of a story?
    2.  What helps you make decisions about a character?
    3.  What clues in a story tell you about the characters?
    4.  How can two bridges be alike and different?
    5.  Why causes someone to be a hero?

    REMINDER:  Students are to read at home for 20 minutes for 20 days each month as part of their At-Home Reading program.
