    August 2019

    Dear 5th grade student,

Welcome to 5th grade! I wanted to say hello and to get you excited for school after a long summer.  It will be an exciting year with many changes. We will be the top gorillas!! We will have quite an adventure learning about this new transition.   Before we know it, we will have it down pat! No worries! Learning and fun will be accomplished! I would love for you to tell me about yourself. What are your favorite things to do? What is your favorite subject in school? What are the things that are important to you? Here are a few things about me. I am in my 23rd year of teaching. Eight of those years were in special education. This is my 15th year of teaching 5th grade and I absolutely love it! I have two children, Carlie and Jackson. Carlie is a graduate from WSU and is attending University of Washington Medical School. Jackson will be a sophomore at Central Washington Univerity.  My husband, Tom, farms and ranches. My most important bit of advice to you is to do your homework and always make an effort at whatever you are asked to do. We will be doing many fun projects together and perhaps some things that might not be your favorite thing to do. However, you will learn and you and I will have a great year! I am looking forward to it. Let's enjoy 5th grade together!

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Sorensen
