Treats 2 Troops
Davenport High School will be working with Spokane’s KREM 2 News to support the military from Fairchild Air Force base and those stationed overseas during the holidays. My name is Avyian Eldridge and as part of my senior project, I will be collecting items from Davenport Elementary, Middle, and High Schools to send to the troops. Besides treats we can send cards and letters to show our appreciation for their service.
Would you and your class be willing to help us with this by donating items or by making cards or writing letters? The cards could be thank you cards, appreciation cards, or holiday cards.
The start day for our collection is Monday, Oct. 21. The due date is Thursday, November 7. These items will need to be delivered to Mrs. Collins before Veterans Day.
Everything from our school will then be delivered to Spokane KREM 2 News to be added to their KREM 2 “Treats 2 Troops.”
This may not seem like a lot to us, but it will be something that they will cherish forever, especially since they are away from home for the holidays!
The following items are items troops like to receive overseas.
- Beef Jerky/Slim Jim
- Powder Drink Mix (Gatorade, Kool-Aid, Propel, Crystal Light)
- Sunflower/Pumpkin Seeds (Original/Flavored)
- Nerf balls/frisbees
- Starbucks Via Packs (individual coffee servings)
- Baby Wipes/Hand Wipes
- Lip Balm/ChapStick/Blistex
- Eye drops
- Lens cleaning cloths
- Hard candy (Jolly Ranchers, Tic Tacs, etc.)
